Welcome to WOOLMERCHANT THEATRE COMPANY
The WoolMerchant Theatre Company offers young adults the opportunity to attend theatre courses tutored by working actors in France at Château de Blavou and also in the UK. Courses are run in the English and French language and aim to provide the type of training major acting schools provide.
Jo Murphy, Head of Drama at Bedales school, has designed our courses which will now encompass the needs of the various Examining Bodies or those schools, like Bedales which have their own Assessed Course in Theatre Arts. She will work with Professor Carol Sanders, our Language Director, on the French Language Theatre Courses that we are also offering. In addition, exciting news, Complicite are to lead their first course at Chateau de Blavou with the WoolMerchant Theatre Company this year in a new venture available to all schools attending as a group.

We can also cater for specific aspects of your own school drama curriculum (for example, devised or scripted GCSE work) to be studied on an intensive basis for a week at the Château without the interruptions or other calls upon student time that so often disrupt Drama Departments.
In addition, we are now closely involved in helping schools take their own production to the Edinburgh Fringe. Through WoolMerchant, we can source a suitable venue for your production, arrange good student accommodation with Edinburgh University and organise your publicity and travel arrangements as well as arrange a suitable slot at Château de Blavou to rehearse and relax. All our staff are CRB checked.
